Most RLCWA customers have a water meter that is located outdoors
in a meter pit. To protect the meter from winter frost, the pit is
approximately 42 inches deep. Other customers have a meter inside their home
which attaches to a cable that leads to a digital readout secured to the
outside wall of the home. Water meters are straight dial reads, similar to an
automobile odometer. All meters measure
in gallons. Many of the meters have a permanent zero on the end of the reading
that is stationary.
